The Problem of Evil

The problem of evil is a major topic of philosophy that theists have attempted to explain through theodicies. The problem can be put into the form of a question: Can the presence of evil in the world correspond with the existence of a Judaic-Christian God who is all-knowing, all powerful and totally good?

MEDIOCRITY IN DANCE AND POLITICS

If you happened to catch the conversation on Blogginheads.tv between Jacob Weisberg of Slate and Ann Althouse, Althouse Blog, you might have to wonder, only in America is mediocrity celebrated.

Althouse defends Sarah Palin's ineptitude regarding her knowledge of policy by saying that every politician is like this. I think, are we living in the same universe? Weisberg nails it when he uses the word "narcisstic" to describe the kind of arrogance combined with lack of knowledge Palin possesses. Althouse loses all credibility for me when she talks highly of Bristol Palin's performance on "Dancing with the Stars". Ann Althouse uses her status as a law school graduate to give herself some kind of authority. I think, how careless and irresponsible. Bristol Palin diminishes talent and hard work in Dance the way her mother dimishes it in Politics. Have we lowered our standards so much we applaud these kinds of low-quality performers that are now showing up in the Arts as well as Politics? Wow, what a sad state of our country.
